What do we do? We provide dignified burials for abandoned children who have died in San Diego County.

All of the services held in the Garden of Innocence/San Diego are non-denominational and open to the public to attend and participate.

Volunteers ensure that each baby receives a handmade casket, a receiving blanket, a handmade blanket, beanie baby size toy, poem and a name of their very own.  All human beings deserve the dignity of a name.

The Knights of Columbus come to every service and provide a full honor guard
.  Sometimes there have been as many as 70 Knights show up for this honor.

A Minister, Pastor, Priest, Rabbi, or other officiate volunteers to give the short message. A singer, musician or group also participates in the service in a volunteer capacity.  A poem is written by a volunteer, read at the service and included in the memorial folder.   We also have a monument and vault company that donates the headstones and vaults.

El Camino Memorial Park donates the chairs, canopy, and sound systems for each service.
Flowers are donated by Four Seasons Florist of Poway and others.

Each service costs the Garden $125.00 to open and close the grave.  You can easily donate if you like. We appreciate you.

Attending and/or participating as a volunteer during the service is a wonderful way to start your day and one of the only memorial services you will ever go to that you will want to come again and invite your friends and family to share in the gift of dignity.

Come to the Garden any time. It is a very special place to visit when you need a quiet place to think, vent or just sit quietly.  You will walk away with a much lighter step.

More about our services

Garden of Innocence/National provides educational and hands on help to people in other counties, states, and countries who want start their own Garden of Innocence to serve the abandoned babies in their area.  This is a natural outgrowth of the hard-won lessons learned in San Diego.
