POEMS FOR THE BABIES

Each child that comes into Garden Of Innocence receives a poem written especially for them by a volunteer.  These poems are read as part of our memorial service for that child.

If you would like to send us a poem please email it to georgene@gardenofinnocence.com  Specific poetry writing skills are not important to us.  All we ask is that you don't write about what was on the heart or mind of the mother, don't mention abandonment or thrown away, but concentrate on what is happening today.  This is a good day, yesterday doesn't matter anymore.  We are sending this child home with the love and dignity of friends and family.

    ADAM
    (Our First)

God looked down from heaven with a tear in his eye.
He watched you being born; then he watched you die.

A few hours later you were found and taken tenderly,
to be examined by specialists and find your family.

Maybe secrets will be revealed as you await the day--
But the web was not unraveled; Could there be another way?

Fate was working for you and God was on your side;
He had plans for willing people, and he chose a helpful guide.

She called a lot of people, who responded eagerly,
"We’ll help the baby that was found and be his family."

A group was formed to care of tiny babies like you--
they had a special meeting and decided what to do.

They found a quite place where you’ll be laid to rest,
then he planned a Memorial Service and strived to do their best.

We bid you goodbye and enfold you with our love
Knowing you’re in heaven with our Father up above.

Released from earthly bondage and playing around the throne,
You will have a lot of playmates and never be alone.

BOB

Tiny As I May Be

I was loved before I was conceived.
I was needed before anyone needed me.
It was by choice to come to earth.
I was chosen by God before I was conceived,
so don't worry about me!

I was called home to be with my Lord,
where I was needed more
as tiny as I may be.

Heaven is home to me, that's where I need to be!
With my Father, he needed me,
as tiny as I may be.

Kate

A gift from heaven to those on earth.
A precious baby delivered in birth.

A smile, a coo, so sweet as can be.
The joy of your presence, the sound of your glee.

Too soon to leave from this world we know.
You were meant to be loved--not to come and go.

May the angels enfold and the saints all embrace
Your charm and beauty that shows in your face.

Your new home is filled with laughter and love
And every good blessing from God up above.

ANNMARIE
(our 100th baby)

Annmarie so pure and gracious;
your short life on earth will be remembered!

We built you a cradle in our heart made by love;
where we can enjoy your peace from above.

And now little one, we ask you to pray for all of us sinners;
that we can share heaven with you some day.

Annmarie

So sleeps this child
in a world where she's never been.
Precious is the life
that she'd have lived in...
Peacefully at rest the world is now
forever hers to wander.
God has given her a favor of grace.
Watching us from above
a smile on her face.
For the love we give she will be...
Always in our hearts;
forever in our memories.
Ann Marie.

THOMAS

Little One

In a moment of time, you came to be.
Your life was cut short, but your soul's now free.

So dwell with the Lord, we honor you today.
Now rest sweet baby, for that's God's way.

Song for Thomas

I come before You on this day, confident that when I pray
That You will hear the yearning from the depths of my soul.

Lord, take this child into Your arms,
Show him, what true love is
Show him, what he never had in this life

I trust You Lord, to provide all his needs,
and I trust that You, know exactly what he needs
I love it that You care so much for him
I love You Lord, please love him Lord

You know the reason why we're here, our desire is very clear
To send this child into Your arms with honor and with grace

We want the love we have for You,
to shine through us and back at him
We want Your love to fill his heart to the brim

We trust You Lord, to provide all his needs
And we trust that You, know exactly what he needs
We love it that You care so much for him
We love You Lord, please love him Lord

NANCY

In the midst of December, the month of the Holy Child’s birth
when the unseen world reaches
so close to the earth
we come to celebrate you as you fly--
fly home to Heaven, to Love’s infinite sky.

May hosts of angels and the Gentle Dove
escort you to the throne above;
to that place filled with all love and care,
to a rose-petal dawn and a teddy bear.

Rejoice with the angels
before the font of grace
who in peace and joy
you will see face to face.

NICHOLAS

A Child of God is born and comes to us from above
and we sanctify his salvation and his spirit in love.
With our hearts and souls full of infinite grace
we lift you up to your Holy Father's embrace.

Angels on earth seal your life with a rose petal kiss
and doves take you away to eternity's bliss.
Your Heavenly Father awaits you at His golden door
where you will be guided and loved all the more!

CRAIG

Lovely boy why did you leave?
Did you hear someone calling from above?

God understood how special you were so
he took your hand and guided you to help him
in his beautiful world beyond.

Now you can watch us and see
how you have touched so many people here on earth,

Only time will tell when we will finally meet our angel Craig.

ROSIE

Little girl with rosebud lips
you smile in heaven's sun.
Around your head a halo wisps
you are our special one.

Though our arms will never hold you
we send love beyond the sea.
Our questions not yet answered
life on earth was not to be.

Comfort comes on angel wings
we know that you don't cry.
For in the arms of Jesus
you hear heaven's lullaby.
